Kathmandu, Sept 21. The Ministry of Education and Sports has issued a directive to the concerned authorities to take action, in accordance with prevailing laws, against teachers and staff involved in the activities of political parties.
Following social media posts regarding teachers' involvement in political activities, Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel directed that monitoring be increased over the political activities of teachers and staff in schools nationwide and that legal action be taken against anyone found to be involved.
Meanwhile, the Education Development and Coordination Unit (EDCU) in Baitadi has written to all ten local levels in the district, instructing them to monitor whether teachers employed in community schools are participating in political party programs. 
The unit has requested that urged legal action be taken if any activities are found to violate the code of conduct and standards for teachers prescribed in the Education Act and Regulations, or the recent directives issued by the Government of Nepal.
Similarly, the Education Development and Coordination Unit in Sindhuli has written to Dudhauli Municipality, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, and Tinpatan Rural Municipality, directing them to take necessary action if teachers and staff in community schools are found actively participating in political party programs.
Local levels have been requested to take action under prevailing laws against the concerned teachers and staff if they are found engaging in activities contrary to the provisions of the Education Regulations, 2059 (including the tenth amendment), and to inform the unit immediately regarding such action.
