Hytera and Awddel donate communications technology for search-and-rescue missions to security forces
Kathmandu, Oct 7: Global communications technology company Hytera and its Nepal partner Awddel have donated communications equipment and technology to Nepal’s security forces for use in search-and-rescue and disaster-response missions.
The Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Police have received donations under the initiative. The equipment includes body-worn cameras (BWC), Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) radios and E-Pack portable repeaters, together with associated hardware and software which enable the agencies to establish an integrated central command centre across various communications modes using wireless and telecommunications devices.
The equipment is intended to provide security and rescue personnel with additional communications capabilities, particularly in situations where normal communications infrastructure is unavailable or disrupted.
Such capabilities can be particularly relevant during earthquakes, floods, landslides, mountain rescues and other disasters, when conventional communications may be affected.
It is said the total value of the donations is at more than Rs 10 million. The handovers were carried out by Ning Ma, Hytera’s Asia Regional Head based in Seoul, South Korea, together with representatives of Awddel, including its Chairman Sanjaya Pradhan.
The contributions come as Nepal’s security agencies continue to play a central role in search-and-rescue operations and disaster response across the country, including responses to earthquakes, floods, landslides and other emergencies.
Hytera is a global provider of professional and mission-critical communications technology, serving public safety, government and other sectors in over 90 countries. In Nepal, the company has established a significant presence and is the market leader in the professional communications market through Awddel, its exclusive local partner in Nepal.
Awddel is involved in multiple business areas, including project development, infrastructure, power, telecommunications, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, among others.
