Janakpurdham, Sept 20: An elderly woman died in house fire that broke out at Ramananda Chowk of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-8 last evening. 

According to spokesperson at District Police Office, Om Prakash Khanal, the victim has been identified as Kishori Sahani, 70, from Loharpatti Municipality-2 of Mahottari district. She succumbed to severe burn injuries. 

The fire caused a significant damage to property worth around Rs 300 thousands. Initial investigation of police found that an electrical short had caused the fire. 

The locals brought the blaze under control with the help of police persons, mobilizing a fire engine as well.
