Flood damages eight suspension bridges, motorable bridges in Tanahu
Damauli (Tanahu), Oct 9: The flood and landslide following the incessant rainfall occurred from September 25-27 have caused damages to houses, roads, bridges, drinking water projects, electricity, agriculture and livestock sectors in the district.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, the flood damaged suspension and concrete bridges, culverts, and road at different places in the district.
Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Committee and Chief District Officer, Shiva Lal Tiwari, said they have recommended the concerned bodies to immediately forward reconstruction and maintenance process of the damaged structures.
Five suspension bridges were completely damaged due to natural disaster in the district. The suspension bridge linking Ghiring rural municipality and Rampur municipality of Palpa, suspension bridge connecting Atrauli of Ghiring-1 with Kasiban, suspension bridge linking Mandar of Baudikali rural municipality-2 with Kharsangghat, suspension bridge connecting Karuwatar with Maitighat-Machedi and suspension bridge linking Devghat rural municipality-2 and Bulingtar rural municipality-1 of Nawalpur were completely damaged, added Tiwari.
Locals and students have been facing problem in crossing rivers following the complete damages of the suspension bridges. Similarly, other three suspension bridges suffered partial damages due to flood.
The flood also caused partial damages to Kaligandaki Mandar-Kharsangghat motorable bridge.
Likewise, two culverts suffered damages in the district and recommendations were made at the bodies concerned for the reconstruction of the damaged culverts.
Tiwari stressed the need of forwarding reconstruction and maintenance of the damaged roads, bridges and other public structures with priority.
