Rasuwa, Oct 16: The flood-damaged Langtang trekking route has been repaired with active engagement of locals.
Local residents of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-4, Langtang, volunteered to repair the landslide-affected sections above Paljor and below Rimiche.
According to ward chair of Gosainkunda-4, Dindup Tamang, the repair work was carried out with the direct involvement of locals at the main spots that were most damaged by landslides.
The devastating flood on August 26 completely destroyed Syafru Bazaar, the main gateway to Langtang, and also washed away the bridge connecting to Syafru.
After the main gateway and bridge were washed away, an alternative trekking route has now been opened for tourists and local residents, informed ward chair Tamang.
With the maintenance of the trekking route, movement in the area has become safe, the rural municipality said.
According to the newly arranged alternative route, it now takes a two-day trek from the headquarters Dhunche through Thulo Bharkhu, Sano Bharkhu, Brabal, Thulo Syafru, Pahiro, Bambo, Rimiche, and Lama Hotel to reach Langtang.
